Medellín Basic: Terms of Use

1. Who we are

Medellín Basic is an independent publication based in the USA ("we", "us").

By using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

2. What this site is, and what it isn't

The site provides general information only. It is not legal, tax, immigration, insurance or financial advice.
Medellín Basic is not a law firm, visa agency or insurer. We are not a travel agency, a bank or an accounting firm.
Our editors are not lawyers (abogados) or certified public accountants (contadores públicos), and nothing on the site presents them as such.
Using the site, reading our newsletter or writing to us does not create a lawyer–client, advisory or confidential relationship between you and us.
We don't answer individual case questions, review your documents, or file or act on your behalf before Migración Colombia, Cancillería, DIAN or any other authority. You file your own applications.
The site's materials are not a substitute for the advice of an attorney. For your own situation, ask a licensed Colombian immigration lawyer (abogado), a licensed Colombian contador público and, where relevant, a professional in your home country.

3. No government affiliation

Medellín Basic is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting for the Government of Colombia, the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores (Cancillería), Migración Colombia, DIAN, the Alcaldía de Medellín, the US Department of State or any other government body. Visas are decided by Cancillería, and entry permits by Migración Colombia. Government fees are set and collected by those authorities.

4. How our content is made

Pages are researched from the official sources cited on each page, and each rule links to its source. Our Editorial policy explains the process, the review dates and the change log.

5. Accuracy and changes to the rules

Each page shows the date its rules were last checked. Rules, fees and practice change, sometimes without notice.
If an official source says something different from our page, the official source is right. Check it before you apply, travel or pay.
We work to keep pages accurate but make no guarantee that any page is complete, current or error-free, or that following it will produce any visa, permit, tax or banking outcome. Cancillería makes every visa decision, and officials decide each case.

6. Affiliate and paid links

Some pages or emails may contain paid links. If you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Partners don't review or approve what we write, and commissions don't change what the rules say. Each paid link is marked "(paid link)" next to the link. See our Affiliate disclosure. 7. Third-party sites and services

The site links to government pages and other third-party sites and services. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, availability, products or practices. Their own terms and privacy policies apply.

8. Acceptable use and intellectual property

The content, design and text of the site belong to Medellín Basic or its licensors, except for official texts and quotations, which belong to their sources.
You may read, print and share links to pages for personal, non-commercial use.
You may not scrape, bulk-download, republish or resell the content, or use it to train or feed automated systems, without our written permission.
You may not misuse the site (for example, by attempting to disrupt it or access it without authorization).

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Medellín Basic and its owners, editors and contractors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on the site's content.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for any claim relating to the site is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
This section doesn't exclude or limit any liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, including Colombia's Ley 1480 de 2011.

11. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify us against third-party claims that arise from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the site. This doesn't apply to claims caused by our own fault.

12. Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by US law, and disputes go to US courts, subject to any mandatory law of your country of residence that gives you other rights or another forum.

13. Changes and severability

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be noted on this page.
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.

Información general, no asesoría legal. Medellín Basic es una guía independiente; no somos una firma de abogados ni una agencia de visas, y no tenemos relación con el Gobierno de Colombia. Resumimos fuentes oficiales, no conocemos su caso y esta página no reemplaza la asesoría de un abogado. Las normas cambian y cada autoridad decide caso por caso.
